Default Do People Look Down On You Because You Are In MLM?

I thought this was an interesting thought. I guess it would depend on how sucessful you are in it? I know all of us have failed more than once in MLM (for those of us who have tried it). Or people that know you wait to see if you will fail before getting involved in it. So what do others think on this subject.

Wanted to get the MLM section kicked off since it hasn't been posted in before. So lets get this section kicked off.

Good move...

We taught our new people to avoid the "MLM" term..........
Spoke about an "opportunity"
In the late 70s....folks seemed to be resistant to MLM talk....

"Work at home" or "home-based business" is another couple of terms used when recuiting.

MLM is just like an outsourced sales team that also recruits other sales members when you think about it. Some focus on selling products, others focus on recruiting a sales force beneath them (called a downline).

The law states in a lot of countries now that there can be no financial compensation in a tree formation, but a points system can be used in which points can be used to buy products which in turn can be sold to make money from your downline.

Please read the Rules

MLM has some negative connotations to it, but the fact of the matter is if done properly with proper management it can be extremely successful. Take a look a PrePaid Legal, now a publicly traded company and people made thousands in what would be considered an MLM.

There is nothing wrong with the mlm business. It is a great distribution concept.
How we look at it today is based on what we as people have presented it the last 60 years. So, the way we will be looking at it the coming 60 years is promising because it is presented a lot better now.
The failing rate doesn't say anything to me because the way I look at it is that this rate is in any industry or discipline.
BTW, you can only state if you failed something if you set goals for yourself and evaluate if you achieve them or not.
Even normal marketing campaigns of big companies fail sometimes.

a lot of people don't understand MLM, they automatically assume its a pyramid, yet they forget that working in a company is a pyramid

In the past, people did look down on someone who said he is in MLM but today, because the industry is becoming more professional, and there are also a lot of professionals such as doctors, teachers, dentists, and even judges who are getting involved with Network Marketing, the industry's future is looking very bright indeed.

It is up to us who are involved right now to educate the public about the tremendous benefits of MLM. I have made a post on my blog which attempts to explain MLM to the public in a very simple and easy to understand manner. You may want to take a look at it and even critique it if you like because I know there is always room for improvement.

I don't think, the nature of business can harm any one's personal reputation.

Every opportunity should be taken positively and if some one will have a thought about others concern, then he/ she should join Howard or Oxford University. Nobody is going to pay the fee for that.
