To be honest with you both of them are important as it boils down to bounce rate as a whole. Make sure that you are only providing what the visitor on your site is expecting. Relevance plays a major role these days.

Exit Rate is the percentage that were the last in the session. Bounce Rate for a page is based only on sessions that start with that page. Both are important.

According to me exit rate is very important rather than bounce rate..
bounce rate-user will visit1 webpage and then they will close the website
exit rate-user will visit more than 1 webpage and then they will close the website.

I believe if you have a very high bounce rate, you need to think why a person comes to the page and leaves right after, without clicking further in my website?

Bounce rate is determined by calculating the number of bounces over the total number of page views to a page.

Exit rate, on the other hand, looks at the number of people who exit your website after landing on a page and compares it to the total number of views the page received.

For ranking of a website bounce rate is the basic requirement

Default Bounce Rate or Exit Rate? Which is more important: EXPLAINED

Technically, both are important!

But you should concentrate more on decreasing your bounce rate, by properly “interlinking” your website’s content.

Hope this helps
