Im very new to this so forgive me. I keep hearing about submitting post to other bloggers in hopes of getting back links. How is this? Whats to keep them from stealing your posts?

That refers to making a post on a blog and leaving a link when allowed....

I would say research some less competitive keyword, write blog post of around 1000-word, maintain keyword density, bold some important point in your blog post then send it for guest post publishing with your site link.

You are getting benefit of backlinks as well as traffic too.

When looking for partners in guest posting, you need to find ones that is related to your niche, and more importantly, trustful and with a good reputation. I recently found Guest blogging: Looking for guest bloggers or guest post? Join MyBlogGuest! , which seems quite helpful.

That's not stealing, that's guest blogging. Aside from getting links from them, you are also expanding the value of your blog.

Bambam, it's rare that someone will "steal" posts. Duplicate content is useless as it is detrimental to SEO.

Once a blog accepts your pst, don't look to submit the same post on another blog because it will contradict the purpose of guest blogging (duplicated content).
Maybe you a mediator network such as blogsynergy.com which benefits the guest blogger and blog owner by making sure that the terms are accepted by all parties

But I've heard that guest blogging costs a lot.. Some are over a hundred bucks per article while other bloggers charge is $.20 per word. (maybe if that site is reputable).

Guest Posting is donation of your content to another blog for backlink to your website its a best opinion to increase traffic and ranking.

I think this is referring to the blog commenting process, which recent search engine updates have shown to be a bit of a spammy way of link building that I would therefore not reccommend.
