Two Approaches to Finding A Niche
Choosing a market is what marketing is all about and where everything starts from if you don't have a niche (a slice or segment of the entire marketplace) you are not likely to succeed.
There are two main ways of choosing a niche:
1. Choosing an Competition-Heavy Niche
2. Choosing a Little-To-No-Competition Niche
The first option may seem like a bad idea, since the marketplace is crowded. But really, its not really..
This is why I avoid looking at the SEO Competiton in market samurai, since anything is possible! It just takes time, and if you have time, then you can go with a competition-heavy niche where you KNOW there must be money to be made rather than the other option which is..
Choosing a Little-To-No-Competition Niche.
This involves looking for a small to medium-sized market that has not already been dominated. The problem with this approach is that unless you test, there is no way to know if the market has real buyers. So testing is paramount with this approach!
No competition is easy to get to the top of the search results within a month or so with an exact keyword domain name (ie. yourkeywords.com)
There is shades of grey between all of these extremes, but you get the picture i'm sure - don't punch above your weight and choose a really difficult keyword like 'mortgage' and you will do well.
