Thumbs up A new era in the US

It's been a long and trying 8 years in the US, but finally a new era is about to begin for us.

The American people have spoken, and we have spoken loud and strong about a desire for change.

I'm curious to see other's opinions on what the key to winning the election was for President Elect Obama. I know I have my views, and of course I plan to share them but I would really like to discuss with others too, see what you think were the key points to this election.

I think there were a few keys to this election.

1. - Obama's campaign worked their tails off to target young voters and first time voters.
2. - Bad choice by the GOP in selecting Sarah Palin as VP candidate.
3. - Republican "smear" campaign, folks are tired of bashing. The bashing that went on did more harm than good I believe.

What do you think ?

Quite honestly I think the key to this election was that Americans have just had it up to here with the Republican party, we've been going downhill for 8 years under republican government.

I don't think the little things mattered too much really, we just wanted something different and Obama was that something.

I stayed up watching the whole election.
I knew it was going to be a part of history so I had
to make sure I was watching it all.
It was pretty exciting!
I agree Palin was a bad choice as a VP completely

We stayed up until 1am EST here. I was moved almost to tears by Obama's speech. He really hit home for many of us, the hopes & desires that we, as American have for the future.

This may not even seem like a big deal to some people but I thought the absolute best part of his speech was when he stated plainly that things may not get better in a year, may not get all fixed even in one term, but that he is going to work toward the goals.

So often you hear politicians try to blow smoke up your bottom and tell you how they'll fix problems and it won't even take long. He was realistic, he knows it's going to be a long, uphill battle to turn this country around, but at least we have hope again.
