Cool Is PHP hard to learn?

I already own a website now and I am very fluent in HTML. I want to add a members-only section to my website and possibly a rating system for landscape photographs. Is PHP hard to learn? Tell me how long it'll take to learn it and how difficult it is to make the programs I need above. Thanks!

I wish I knew, it seems like it's fairly easy, but all that code is just greek to me.

My son messes around with it some, and he basically taught himself in about a week, so I guess if you've got the eye for it, it's not hard at all.

It's not that hard if you can stick with it. If you enjoy learning things php makes a lot of sense. It helps if you have a basic understanding of coding structure, I actually ended up making a theme with php. It was rather fun. There are several tutorials out there, and php is a very common language, I would try to learn it

I was fluent in html but not php five years ago. I have a basic understanding of PHP but can tell you would never be a programmer. I did learn to use coding in my sites and best tip. Leave the php alone when you are working on updates he he .. Scripts for php are simple. Most are self install and very simple to set up so even someone who doesn't have a lot of experience with it can pick up simple coding and editing on php. Good luck with it.

Being a php programmer, if you've programmed other languages then its easy. If you've not programmed before, then it could be a bit difficult.

Start with html, then learn css, then javascript to get the basics of programming then you can move on to php.

If you want to do a members-only section or a photograph rating site, best action is to find a script thats been built already that does this, amember does a pay-member site.

Post on here if you need any help.

PHP as a language isn't the hardest, nor is it the easiest. I would say its in the middle of 'difficulty'. But as with any programming language you'll learn as much as you put into it - and that progress is excelled by any previous experiences you've had.
