Google Maps can be a very important source of visitors for geographically specific companies. This is especially useful for companies that would receive much of their traditional customs of local directories such as Yellow Pages.
You have probably already got a listing on Maps Google, without even realizing it. They used many sources to obtain data for the Google Maps listings so you must be there, even if you have no website.

Many businesses don't realise that Google Maps entries can be updated and personalised with more information about your business such as opening hours and even a logo along with reviews etc.

Google maps helps locate geographic location. Even it is useful in seo and other activities. Nice feature by google.

Its not about what other websites have information about your business. Google maps go a long way (when embedded on your site) to ensure that crawling for efficient indexing takes place.

I agree that google maps can be very helpful, I have my local listing on google maps and this is the reason i get many sale from the local people.
