Pagerank algorithm is a link analysis algorithm used by the Google Search Engine, that assigns a numerical weighting to each element of a hyperlinked set of documents with the purpose of "measuring" its relative importance within the set.

Page rank algorithm is very complex to understand but I guess it is mainly for link building, higher the quality of your site's links, higher the page rank of your site.

There would also be other things like content of the site etc.

Page rank algorithm is the algorithm used by Google search engine . It is the process on knowing the importance of a web page by the number of links pointing on other page. It get the sum of Page ranks(PR) to all the linked pages and it divides to the number of links found on each pages. That' why having a large number of links pointing to other pages can result to higher Pagerank. Hope it helps

The original PageRank algorithm was described by Lawrence Page and Sergey Brin in several publications. It is given by
PR(A) = (1-d) + d (PR(T1)/C(T1) + ... + PR(Tn)/C(Tn))
where
PR(A) is the PageRank of page A,
PR(Ti) is the PageRank of pages Ti which link to page A,
C(Ti) is the number of outbound links on page Ti and
d is a damping factor which can be set between 0 and 1.

Basically, the page increases when, backlinks to your website from high-authority sites and sites having high pr. Page rank algorithm is based on the link juice factor, as much link juice you get your page rank increases.

Nobody knows Google Algorithm and Google never ever shared it with general public too. All we have just basic info that you can find on Google too.

Apart from links pointing to a web page, it is also checked how natural and how relevant they are, natural traffic is also considered in page rank algorithm...... you may see some of your sub pages you haven't built any link and they have some pr....... it is due to traffic..
