How to improve ranking in google

Hi All
My problem is that i have been hired to increase the ranking of a website in Google and i have never done that before . although i have some idea of what i have to do ...What is in my mind is that i have to post the link of the website in forums and directories....
I also have to send them weekly report..
So Please can any one guide me what should i do ....
It would be great if you contribute even if a single point if it comes to your mind....i dont have time to read big books on SEO....
Your help will be very very help ful to me and help me in making my living....i am under huge debts ...so please ......
help me save my job....

Write quality articles and content and posted all over the net with you keywords and links. Try to post it on relevant sites and good PR sites too.

you have to build quality links, forum posting, blog commenting, social bookmarking, article submission, Q&A sites and social networking sites, well no matte how busy you are you must at least spend some time on reading articles about it in order for you to gain knowledge and have a plenty of clients

ranking on Google can be a little bit hard especially if you have plenty of competitors, you must post your links to do follow and high pr sites that are related to your niche. try link exchange, article submission and so on.

Having good content and Web design lay out, getting the quality links from relevant web site make the website to rank in the search engines. We should do the link exchange effectively not for the sake of it.

3-way link exchages is said to be a good way of getting links, although i prefer other methods.
