Adwords can give you instant results but if you need to see results for a longer time then it is better to gain a better organic search engine keyword ranking. Build quality links and you will be able to see the results.

I am new to AM and traffic is definitely a problem I am tying to fix. I joined this forum to try and make sense of the AM world and to gain some insight into the issue of traffic. You mentioned that forums and blogs are a really good way of generating traffic - Now I can see how a forum can increase traffic to your site but how does it generate that all important net credibility you are talking about?

Forums are much more direct, so you can show that you know what you're talking by answering real questions people have instead of someone taking your word for it based on your article!

Also, forums keep you grounded in the reality of what is really needed by people if you want to make a product, rather than guessing.

Another thing is that forums give a much better connection to people because you have a dialog going on, you get to know people and become part of a community (if you stick around long enough!)

One last thing to think about, would you rather help people and talk with people or just sit there on your own and write articles about different subjects that you think people might be interested about?

Ranking high (top 3) in search engines for the right keywords is still the best way to get lots of the right kind of traffic IMO. After proper keyword research, quality link-building is the most important thing you can do to affect this. And the best part is it can mostly be automated and doesn't cost much money.
I love getting loads of high quality backlinks on autopilot (and as a result, lots of traffic) almost as much as I love helping others do the same.

Social media and forum posts are a great way to get traffic quickly and build a large number of backlinks. But long term traffic will come with ranking in google's first few pages. It's free traffic but takes months of hard work and smart attack plans to make it possible.

I have been using two methods to get traffic and even my keywords search position is improved. I am focusing on link-building but only on the niche sites and even look for that site's authority. Social Media Marketing is the second thing which helps me get traffic on my site and even i can stay socially active and represent my site.
