Everyone always says facebook is doomed, but it really just keeps getting stronger and stronger

Google+ was really hyped in the beginning but it's all tumbleweeds now, in my experience.

Ten Fast Feet recently was named the Best New Interactive Ad Agency for 2011.

G+ and their fans keep claiming huge number growth and yet, it seems to be like a MacDonalds which claims to be serving thousand of burgers a day and yet, you never see any people there.

I wasn't all that impressed with the initial announcement of Facebook timelines, but now I can definitely see how it will appeal to people.

I'm not anti-google or anything, I want to see FB get some good competition, but G+ just hasn't really drawn me in.

From a marketing perspective, go where your target audience is. Run a survey, ask them where they prefer to hang out. It never hurts to ask your subscribers/audience for their feedback. In my experience, people move between these different networks very intuitively and they don't think or sweat it as marketers do -- why should they?

jim

I am a Google fan and I joined G+ eagerly as soon as it comes out. It is amazing in many aspects, such as the pics/video sharing, circles, group discussion, etc., and I like the interface. However, it's just impossible to update your facebook, twitter and then G+ everyday all together (as a real person sharing part of my life; not some corporation doing marketing via editing tools), and I'm not ready to give up all the things I've made on facebook. So the decision has to be giving up G+, I don't have time for it. I think it's totally a matter of time. G+ is no worse (and even slightly better) than facebook, but it has lost the game to facebook in terms of timing.

I still prefer Google+ over Facebook personally. I don't necessarily think they're too late to the game any more than Facebook was too late to the game.

I agree with a lot of people's preference for Google+ personally, but overall Google+ engagement is extremely low. WSJ just reported that despite fast network adoption, the average user only spent 3 minutes on Google+ versus 7 hours on Facebook last month.

That said, Google is ready to sell their soul to make the network succeed. Lucky for them, they don't need to build a direct Facebook competitor to do that though. They need user data and can still benefit from creating a suite of Google products that touch every part of our online experience.
