I know you mention content, but a search engine will normally spot spammy keyword content a mile away, so making sure the content is relevant WITHOUT being spammy is very important.
For some sites a site map is necessary, but requires a lot of care and attention.
If you replacing an old site with a new one then you might need to think about 301 redirects as broken links are normally penalised.
So much to consider and this list is by no means exhaustive.

Very true, sbonline. The little bit of knowledge provided so far is not to be considered even a pin head drop of what is the sum total of the subject. But we will continue to put some info out there till we make a dent in the mountain of information available on SEO.
