Its a matter of trust.
The more factors that have been tailored to your target audience, the more sales you'll achieve.
If you have great copy and rubbish design, it could give an impression that you know what you are talking about but don't really give a watsit, same with great design and rubbish copy. Concluding, it is 50 /50 and both need to be 100%.
