Default Call to action - getting your customers to take the action you want

The call to action

This is so obvious, it can be a little bit patronising but..

If you send someone an email and you want them to go to your website, and you have a link to it, ask your prospective buyer to click the link!

-or-

-or-

click here to watch this video

-or-

click the order button, enter your credit card details then you'll download it and be reading through it within 60 minutes and implementing what i say.

Try this technique out, it works very well. This is only to get you warmed up in the psychology part of the forum, i'll be getting into some more serious aspects that can dramatically increase your conversions (number of people who TAKE ACTION and BUY)

I'm not sure about orange submit buttons, i would do a split-test, and see which one gets more click-throughs - it really depends on the product. Test, test test!!

What you need to do is have two versions of a page, and change one thing. Then send half of your traffic to one of the pages, and the other half to the other and see how many people subscribe/buy or whatever the action is of the page.

I read somewhere before (can't remember where) that having certain colours on a website can be effective at getting your visitors to take whatever action you want them to take and having orange on a website is supposed to be more effective at getting people to buy than any other colour. This is probably why most buy buttons you see are orange.
