I have a few questions if you dont mind
Hello, I do affiliate marketing and am looking to expand how I advertise. I have everything set up will run my first campaign this week. I was wondering if anyone would share about how many pieces of mail a day they send? My plan is to start with 10k a day and scale it up from there. My question is will I even see a return from 10k a day? Is that a good number to start with? Any tips or sharing your experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Mrs Marketer
I have no idea were you are getting your list from, that you will send out 10k a day. But my guess would be from on of the spammer sites. You will find that the quality of the mail list is very poor, and you will not get a very good responce, as hundreds if not thousands of emails have been sent to these lists already.
But with say that, you may if you have a really go opening, get some people to open your mail. But at this point, if you do want that person to get onto your list and stay on your list as a subscriber, then don't try to sell anything. Give them something of value, but don't try to sell any products. You have to build a relationship with your list. That is one of the big things with e-mail marketing that people miss.
I hope that this will help you. To learn more about e-mail marketing, you may want to visit my site, as I have a section on e-mail marketing that would help you. And no there sign up to access the information. LOL

Thank you for your feedback. I have just under 12k that I have collected from customers that have downloaded one of my android apps and have opted in to recieve emails for coupons and other free offers. The rest of the mail with be targeted lists that I have purchased.

Every time you buy an email list, a puppy dies. Buying lists isn't illegal per say but it does violate email marketing best practices. Bought lists are often full of bad emails and even honey pot addresses set up by ISPs to catch spammers.
You'll find opt-in organically grown lists will always outperform purchased lists.
What your return will be depends on what you put into your efforts. Treat your subscribers with respect, offer them engaging and relevent content which adds value to their day and you will be rewarded.
If I were you, I'd dump the bought lists and stick with the opt-in list you built. I'd rather have an engaged list of 1000 opt-ins than a bought list ten times that size because the former will outperform the latter and I won't be black listed by ISPs or ESPs.
Some will dispute this, but a little time searching the web will provide you with plenty of research backing up what I'm saying.
Regards,
jim

Organic opt in list are easily the best to mail to. However if you want to generate new leads and email prospect without spamming people then sending to different list isnt a bad thing as long as its monitored and done correctly.

There is an option you have when buying lists to ensure that you do not get blacklisted or labeled as a "spammer" by ISPs. Make sure that whenever you purchase a list, have it cleaned and validated to get rid of all the invalid, spam, bogus, undeliverable emails. It's a small investment now that will safeguard your sender reputation in the future. Visit the link below, and let me know if I can help!

I agree that buying email lists or what they call safe-lists is just a waste of time. You can see some results but the quality of your leads is not going to be the best. A lot of the time when buying lists your message is sent out to a bundle of people that are unrelated to your niche or market. The best results with email marketing come from building your own list, and to grow that list. This will results in gaining trust with your leads and mark you as an authority in your market. Once you gain trust you are golden. If you have a little money to spend I would suggest to start building your list with a solo ad sent out to a niche related list through ezines. You can find solo ad cost to range from $50-$1000 depending on the quality of the ezine. But with solo ads you can reach the right market very easily. If you don't have money to spend to build your list then I would suggest article marketing with ezines not article directories. Ezines produce many more results as they tend to be much more niche related with leads waiting for the information you have for them.
Hope this helped

I would not agree on buying list. Big business is done everyday by companies buying list. Check your inbox. I problem is, that if you are going to be sending out that much email a day, you need to use a bulk email service provider. Here is why. If you are sending from one IP address you will soon find that you have been blacklisted. It might be where you send to or how many emails you send out per day. Once your IP address is flagged, all your email is marked as SPAM. Bulk Email Service Providers use many servers and many different IP addresses, that is how they can send out millions+ everyday. It's worth using professionals. Sending me a message if you would like to know more. EMR Online Marketing

The worst thing about buying lists isn't that all your mail will eventually be marked as spam by ISPs, is that all your email will be marked as spam by your potential customers.
If they didn't request it, it's spam. That is, if they didn't subscribe to your list, and confirmed that subscription, your email will be spam for them, and even if some will open it by mistake, you can't expect them to become real subscribers.
My advice is to stick with people who already agreed to your sending them emails, and if you want a bigger list, make sure you only use the opt-in choice.

Well said!
You won't be doing "big business" for long once your ESP starts getting complaints from ISPs or organizations such as Spam Cop and such. In fact, you'll be shut down. Suggesting that you can leverage bought lists via ESPs is simply not true. Any major Email Service Provider will tell you that bought lists are a very bad idea and most require you to state that your list is opt-in only in their TOS. Violate that TOS with bought addresses and they'll drop you like a stone.

jim
